Abstract

Methodological individualism is the paradigm used by neo-classical circles in developing economics. There are two basic assumptions used in the individualism paradigm or methodology, namely rational choice theory and homo economicus. This article discusses the concept of methodological individualism and the history of methodological individualism and critiques the assumptions used in this method. Criticism of the assumptions used in methodological individualism then gave rise to various developments in understanding the economic phenomena that occurred, such as the development of behavioral economics and others.
